Generative Henna
I will make an applet which will generate new henna patterns through time. In the sketch window new patterns will appear according to the type of certain .svg files loading from a folder. These files will be articulated according to the position of elements from a grammar file using RiTa library. The text from the grammar will be placed in a grid which will be invisible to the viewer as they will be replaced by a corresponding.
I have made a library of vector images which has broken down elements of design from many henna patterns. These are then categorized in core or central motifs (which will be 1 for now), few intermediate motifs (patterns adjoining the central design) and various peripherial/border motifs. Within these there are many choices for the grammar and their permutation and combinations will hopefully generate henna designs
If the results are convincing, then I will attempt to convert this application in an installation where a camera while track a hand placed on a table and a projector will project these paterns on the viewers hand.
