INTERACTIVE MOTION + GRAPHICS – 2011
In this studio course, the goal is to explore the concept of motion, graphic tools, and possible outcomes to produce interactive works. We, as artists and designers, are living in an era that requires new and creative ways of communicating with the viewers and the consumers of our works and products. The world is constantly changing. New ideas and technologies are produced every minute and are waiting for their users. It is inevitable now that we, as creative thinkers, adopt the newest techniques and technologies which allow us to be involved more directly and passionately in our work. Digital media has emerged as a leading art form with the importance of interactivity, therefore, in this class we will explore the fundamental elements of digital media such as motion graphics, video recording/editing, and creating interactive works with sensors. In this class, the students will learn the basic software, hardware, and techniques of motion graphics. Not only will students learn how to shoot with the digital camcorder but also will learn how to edit to produce a motion graphic. Then the students will be introduced to the concept of interaction which will enable their works to be directly operable and manipulatable. The contents of the class are lectures, software and hardware demos, critiques, discussions, in-class and out-class assignments, and studio time. The students are expected to come to every lecture and to complete all the in-class and out-class assignments. This course will focus on creating motion graphics and interaction.
