Yana was born to a mixed Russian-Greek family and grew up in Uzbekistan, Former Soviet Union. She takes inspiration in the memories of her upbringing and migratory experiences, longing for the fleeting moments of clarity among chaotic changes and missed connections. An artist and a designer, she works across mediums including interactive installation, video, and kinetic sculpture. Her practice emphasizes interdisciplinary approach to making and conceptual inquiry, thus driving her to constantly explore new directions. Creative writing is an integral part of her process and is often incorporated into her pieces.
