STATEMENT I am endlessly interested in figuring out what it means to be American. BIOGRAPHY Growing up in the suburbs of Portland, Oregon, I have always been near convenience stores, multiple Costco’s, constantly surrounded by similar looking houses. This was so much a part of my everyday life growing up that I learned to love the convenience of large stores for one stop shopping. Grocery stores weren’t just grocery stores; they sold everything, from clothing, sports equipment, and electronics. This informs my practice. I attempt to find the absurdity in the everyday. I received a BFA in Digital Art from the University of Oregon in 2008 and am currently an MFA candidate in Digital Media at the Rhode Island School of Design. PROJECTS THE EMPIRE (2009) The Empire was drawn completely from memory. Using animation, The Empire subtly reveals the boring life of a ranch style home. http://vimeo.com/3942748 An image of the drawing was then sent to a factory in China where they manufactured a bounce house based solely off the image. NEW (2008) While in Rapid City, SD, I found a building called "New". RED WHITE AND BLUE STOREFRONT (2008) Digital drawing of a photograph then projected onto an MDF model.
