Catherine D’Ignazio
Catherine D'Ignazio (kanarinka) is an artist and educator. She has a BA, Summa Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa, in International Relations from Tufts University and an MFA in Studio Art from Maine College of Art. She spent eight years in educational technology programming in everything from Logo to Java. Her current research interests include the politics of digital information, cartography & mapping, feminist performance art, participatory culture and the emotional landscape of Homeland Insecurity. She creates drawings, performances, software, and experimental social gatherings both online and off. She is Co-Director of the non-profit organization iKatun, a founding member of the Institute for Infinitely Small Things, and has also taught at MIT's Comparative Media Studies Program and Emerson. Her artwork has been exhibited at Eyebeam, ISEA, and MASSMoCA, and she was a finalist for the 2009 Foster Prize at the ICA Boston.
